Six Tips for Assembling Office Furniture.

Let's be honest: assembling furniture can be a very frustrating and demanding task. Here are a few tips to make it as easy as possible.

Clear a space to work in

Having enough space to work is important, as it gives you a better view and makes it easier to handle the components. You should also assemble the furniture as close as possible to its final location, so you do not have to move it afterwards, as it may be very heavy.

Check all the components

First, carefully unpack all the packages. Avoid using a utility knife, as it could reach and damage the wooden components inside. Check that you have all the components and visualise how they fit together. Make sure everything is present and in good condition before starting the assembly.

Have the right tools

Make sure you have the right equipment to assemble your furniture, as this will make the job much easier, quicker and less demanding. Common tools include screwdrivers and a hammer or mallet.

Work methodically

Working methodically means following the steps in a systematic order. Check that each component is in the correct position before screwing it into place, so you know the furniture is being assembled correctly.

Flat-pack furniture dos and don'ts

There are a few things to bear in mind when assembling furniture. We have put together six key dos and don'ts to help you:

DO: Prepare the workspace where you will assemble your unit

DO: Be organised and methodical

DO: Contact the seller if there are any missing components or damaged items.

DON'T: Get angry; take a breath and start again.

DON'T: Act as though you were a professional furniture fitter.

DON'T: Leave fixings on the floor. Keep them in their packaging until you are ready to use them to avoid stepping on a screw, losing them or misplacing them.
